Background story
Hello It's Sofia! I am a passionate product designer with a background in the creative arts and events. I have worked in numerous creative setting such as the entertainment industry as an events designer that handles creative budget and plans experiential journeys for event goers at the music festivals, concerts, food market, arts market and etc. I was also briefly in the advertising industry where I help companies envision brand identities and a street fashion design company where I come up with graphic tees and clothes that has a high end local street feel.
I'd like to think that I'm creative, inspired and curious. I find a distinct pleasure in playing around with shapes, lines and colours; the basic of design principles. A passionate and loyal fan of art, I am moved by what I see. Bad UX gets on my nerves.
My product design journey
I picked up Motion Graphics while planning experiential events to enhance user experience in the digital space to accommodate our social media market and growing digital industry and that is how I stumbled upon and started my journey in product design! I was hired by Aleph Labs as a UIUX Designer and have done multiple apps and websites ever since. My main highlights would be working with banking, telco, branding and lifestyle companies such as Ambank, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, Maybank, CIMB, OCBC, Digi, FredAustralia, KLCC, Big Bad Wolf and Froyo to name a few.
Soon after that, I was hired by Petronas, a Fortune 500 company that is in their crucial times of transformation to embrace the new era of digitalisation and technology. I helped build data visualisation dashboards for engineers and folks in oil & gas industry to increase productivity and communicate data across teams effectively. My first product here, GO Dashboard that bagged the Information Management - Oil & Gas award at the Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2022 was highly credited as a new standard for data visualisation in Petronas. I was selected to lead design and be one of the core team members of the Digital Academy, a digital learning platform project by Petronas, with high level requirements of revolutionising digital education experience in Malaysia.
