01
Understand
Research
We were tasked to come up with sprint journeys based on a deck of user research that was done by the data scientist, project manager and UIUX designers assigned to the project at the time. Me and my UIUX design partner, Farhan, intern at the time teamed up to analyse the researches.
We had a few findings that interested us which were the user personas, suggested concept and landscape analysis. We had a very short timeline to do this which was in a few months.

Goal & User Story
We conducted guerrilla interview with about 15 people on the streets of Kuala Lumpur to speak to people to further understand how we can help solve their financial pain points through an app. We went around town to speak to working adults on their lunch break to ask some questions we prepared such as "What are their thoughts on the current banking apps they use" and "What they wish to have in their personal banking app". This was a first for me to observe and approach people on the streets. Most of them were friendly and willing to answer us so we got plenty info from this that can help us with our work.

Based on the research that was done and our final finding, we understood the goal before coming up with the user journeys that was to lead the Brunei market by offering the best digital consumer banking application to help millennials manage money, stick to a budget, set financial goals, and help with financial and investment decisions.
So we came up with user flow, stories and wireframes, grouped them into epics of journeys as shown below before coming up with a detailed structure of sprint planning.

Concept
My UIUX design partner Farhan, who was an intern at Aleph Labs back then when we were tasked to come up with sprint journeys based on a deck of user research that was done by the data scientist, project manager and UIUX designer assigned to the project before us.
We started getting our hands dirty on wireframe sketches and sprint 0 right away as we were only assigned to this project at this point of the process. We did them in weeks of epics.

Dashboard, Accounts Overview & Subscription
My UIUX design partner Farhan, who was an intern at Aleph Labs back then when we were tasked to come up with sprint journeys based on a deck of user research that was done by the data scientist, project manager and UIUX designer assigned to the project before us.
We come up with the sprint design by conducting weekly meetings with project manager, product owner and team from both sides to review sprints and discuss suggested solutions.

Word of Advice
We were "tinder", and other social media inspired for this one as the swiping gesture in an app would feel familiar in its behaviour. People can swipe between categories of interest and get insights on their finance management.

Budget Setting
We had a lot of fun discussing these journeys as they felt close to home. Like what would people want to have in a personal financial app? How do we give a pleasant experience that is delightful and beneficial to our users? These are among many questions were raised before we came up with these sprint designs.

Create a Goal
These were my favourite sprint of this project. We were inspired by our own goals and dreams of how we would want to be able to save for it without having to think about it! So how do we help people reach their goals in a financial app? We came up with these after sessions of sprint reviews and extra research efforts.

Promoting Financial Literacy
This was one of the hardest parts for us design. One of our thought processes were to figure out how do we educate young adults using technology without being boring? How do we encourage people to get financially literate in planning their savings and having money goals? So we conducted landscape analysis and user stories to finally come up with a game based learning section.

Extra Feature : Receipt Management
I thought receipt management feature would be like cherry on top for the app. So I suggested a few ideas on them during sprint reviews and came up with the last extra sprint, the "receipt management" section.

Final Design
Usability Testing was conducted on the final designs and we did minor improvements on the designs to verify future improvements and opportunities before handing it to our developers for next steps and quality control.
Continue to design better experiences
Thank you for staying throughout my case study on Brunei's biggest digital banking app! Hope you enjoyed hearing my thought process and checking out our designs! :)
